The Forest

Vaults, growing in public.

A Sylvics vault can grow a public garden: its sources, notes on what was read, and the ideas that came out of them, readable by anyone. Nothing personal is ever published. The Forest is where those gardens stand together. It has its first trees.

Every forest starts with a couple of trees and a lot of patience.

The gardens

My own vault · a seedling

Matthieu's garden

This one is mine. It starts growing with the growing-in-public series: every week, what I read, what I wrote about it, and the ideas I end up holding, published straight from Obsidian. You will be able to watch a real vault grow from its first notes.

One email when it sprouts, then the occasional update. Unsubscribe in one click.

Your garden

When Sylvics has accounts, any vault will be able to plant a garden here, publishing only the notes you choose. It is designed for, and not built yet. I would rather say so than pretend.

How a garden works

Public by choice, private by default.

What grows in publicKnowledge, not your life.

Only sources, notes on what you read, your own ideas and topic maps. Journals, plans, areas and people never leave your computer.

How it updatesFrom Obsidian, when you say.

You publish from the vault. Every change is shown before it goes out, and renamed notes keep their old links working.

What visitors getNotes the way they look in Obsidian.

Side-by-side notes, hover previews, backlinks, search and the graph. Every note has its own page.
