๐ TL;DR / Quick Summary <div style="background: rgba(0,0,0,0.3); border: 1px dashed rgba(255,255,255,0.2); padding: 15px; border-radius: 8px; color: rgba(255,255,255,0.7); margin-bottom: 30px;"> The fourteen lines the โ Launch go or no-go was run against on Wednesday 12 February, exactly as they stood at 15:00. Thirteen green or near enough. Line nine is the reason for ๐ Slip the launch from 18 February to 11 March. </div>
๐ ๏ธ Instructions / Core Material
- 1. Every pilot defect of severity one or two is closed
- 2. Support has the one-page brief and has read it back to us
- 3. Customer Success has the list of customers and who phones whom
- 4. Release notes final. Yuki's second paragraph, not mine
- 5. Monitoring shows the three launch metrics on one page
- 6. Rollback path written
- 7. Data migration rehearsed on a copy of production
- 8. Permissions checked for all four dispatcher roles
- 9. Load at target volume, sustained for one hour. Failed on 11 February at a third of it
- 10. Empty states in place, not placeholders
- 11. Help pages published
- 12. Sales has the description of what it does and what it does not do
- 13. On-call rota for launch night and the two days after
- 14. Somebody other than the author has read this list aloud
Line six said written. It did not say tested, and it did not say who may use it. Both were added for March.
โ ๏ธ Key Warnings / Constraints
- The list has no line for hoping. Thirteen out of fourteen is not 93 percent ready when the fourteenth is whether it stays up.
- Nadia Rahimi said in January that the test behind line nine was too gentle. I let a compromise stand. The gentle test is the one that failed.
- On 10 March the same list was run again with line nine green, line six reworded, and a fifteenth line: the rollback decider, by name. It was needed about thirty hours later.
- A checklist written by the person who wants the launch should be read by someone who does not.
