⚡QUICK JOTS

Two financial journalists and one guest who knows a single corner of the economy extremely well. Most of the feed is about markets and I let it go by. I am here for the episodes where the guest drives a lorry, runs a port or books ocean freight, of which there are more than you would think, because a few years ago the hosts discovered that the world's shelves depend on boxes and have not got over it.

Work-relevant in the plainest way: these are the customers of 🏢 Halden Freight Systems, talking for forty minutes without a salesperson present. I started keeping notes on Thursday 30 January, after lunch with Callum Reid, who said he had learned more about our market from one trucking episode than from our last three win-loss reviews. He was not joking.

What the hosts do well: they ask the practitioner to explain it as if to someone clever who has never seen a warehouse, and then they stay out of the way.

  • I listen at 1.2 speed on office days and take one note per episode, never more.
  • It is the only podcast I have ever expensed nothing for and quoted in a roadmap review.

What I play: Supply-chain episodes only
