📐FORMULA
$$\text{savings rate} = \frac{\text{amount saved in the month}}{\text{net income in the month}}$$
- Saved: what actually moved to the sabbatical fund that month. Not what was left over, not what I meant to move.
- Net income: everything that arrived after tax: salary, the bonus, anything freelance.
I count the fund only. The pension standing order and the monthly buffer transfer are on top and are not in the number, so the true figure is higher than the one I look at. I prefer it that way round.
Worked number. An ordinary month: 900 moved, 4,150 net.
- 900 / 4,150 = 0.217, so about 22 percent
A month with a 400 transfer is under 10 percent, and the average is what matters. Over the year it has sat at roughly 21 to 22 percent.
It is computed on the first sheet of the Monthly budget sheet and read during the 🔹 Sunday money check. The reason it exists at all is 🎯 Fill the sabbatical fund to 18,000 euros.
A personal log. Not advice to anyone, including me in other years.
